Nor Faridah Abdul Manaf was born in Bentong, Pahang (Malaysia) in 1963. She is Assistant Professor of English Language and Literature at the International Islamic University Malaysia and author of The Concept of 'Tragic Hero' in Shakespearean Tragedies: An Islamic Interpretation. Nor Faridah received her B.A (Hons) From the University of Waikato, New Zealand in 1986. She later went to the University of Liverpool (UK) for her M.A. and the Flinders University of South Australia for a Ph.D. Nor Faridah has published articles on women's writing in local and international journals. She contributed entries on Malaysian women writers for Jane Eldridge Miller's Who's Who in Contemporary Women's Writing (Routledge, 2000). She is also a published creative writer and has won a couple of writing prizes in Malaysia. She is now working on setting up Iqra', a website of Muslim's Writing in English.

Mohammad A. Quayum, Professor of English at Universiti Putra Malaysia, earned his M.A. in English (with distinction) from Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Canada, and holds a Ph.D. in English from the Flinders University of South Australia. He has published extensively in the areas of American and Commonwealth literature, and is was a Co-editor of World Literature Written in English (WLWE) published from Singapore. Quayum's recent books include In Blue Silk Girdle: Stories from Malaysia and Singapore (Ed.; UPM Press, 1998), Dictionary of Literary Terms (Kuala Lumpur: Prentice-Hall, 2000), Saul Bellow: The Man and His Work (Ed.; New Delhi; B.R. Publishing, 2000), Diverse Voices: Readings in Languages, Literatures and Cultures (Ed.; UPM Press, 2000) and Malaysian Literature in English: A Critical Reader (Ed.; Kuala Lumpur; Longman, 2001).
