Grateful with abundance of grace we have been given this opportunity and have successfully prepared a scientific book titled "Drug Delivery: Hydrogel from Oil Palm Waste as Green Approaches". This book was produced with the high level of quality from the results of a doctoral research. The mature writing style of this book in descripting facts along with good discussion, it is a good reference for students, academics, researchers, as well as industry players. The information contained in this book is useful to be used as reference material and guidance, especially for those who would like to explore hydrogels as an advanced drug delivery medium and those who involved in utilisation of agricultural waste.

This book comprises nine chapters. Chapter I introduces the conventional drug delivery medium, drawbacks and limitations of conventional drug delivery medium. Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 present a fundamental of hydrogels including hydrogels classification and synthesis methods, and cellulose hydrogels respectively. Whereas Chapter 4 discusses introduction of thermo-responsive hydrogels, their drug transport mechanism, and the potential usage of thermo-responsive cellulose hydrogels for drug delivery. On the other hand, Chapters 5-7 are the application chapters describing the thermo-responsive cellulose hydrogel fabrication and characterisation. Next, the performance of the thermo-responsive cellulose hydrogel was validated in terms of swelling ratio, percentage of degradation, in-vitro drug delivery, kinetics and mechanism of drug release using vertical diffusion cell, and antimicrobial activity. Lastly, study on process modelling conducted using RSM software to optimise the thermo-responsive cellulose hydrogel formulation. Following, Chapter 8 discusses the materials and methodologies employed for the output of this book. Last but not least, challenges and future perspective of hydrogels as drug delivery medium are suggested in Chapter 9.
